About
Recognition of Prior Learning is a great idea on paper. A worker with years of skill should be able to convert that experience into a real qualification without sitting through a year of classes. In practice, the process has become one of the slowest things in Australian vocational education.
Published ASQA monitoring reports and industry surveys keep describing the same pattern. Assessors spend hours per RPL file working through PDF portfolios by hand, chasing missing evidence by email, and writing the same kinds of clarifying questions over and over. Course coordinators end up triaging stalled files between cohorts.
On the student side, the wait can be longer still. RPL applicants commonly sit in a queue for weeks. Some run past the cut off date for withdrawing from the standard classroom enrolment they were trying to skip, and end up paying for both pathways and getting credit for neither.
PriorLeap is a tool to fix that. It gives the student a guided, structured way to upload what they have and tell their story. It gives the assessor an evidence map, AI suggested gap questions, a per unit decision panel, and a clean sign off that names them on the record. The platform handles the bookkeeping. The assessor stays in charge of the call.
We are not an ASQA registered training organisation and we do not pretend to be. The work we do is aligned with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations and the assessment principles set out by the Australian Skills Quality Authority. The decision on your application is made by your nominated assessor. PriorLeap is the workshop they work in.
